Planning & Estates Law Project: David Wise, Paralegal at Wachtell, Lipton, Rosen & Katz

The Planning & Estates Law Project assists individuals with end-of-life planning, probate, and small estate matters.

David Wise, a paralegal in the Trust & Estates practice at Wachtell, Lipton, Rosen and Katz, has been a core volunteer since the inception of the Planning & Estates Law Project in 2013. He has provided over 64 clients with assistance in preparing Surrogate’s Court petitions and life planning documents and has been a reliable volunteer at PELP’s monthly legal clinics assisting dozens of clients through the years.   When PELP started to do pro bono work with Mt. Sinai Hospital’s Medical Partnership, David volunteered to explain and execute end of life planning documents for patients at their bedside. In one case, David assisted a patient with cancer execute a Power of Attorney and documents for a Stand by Guardian to enable a family member to care for her child and pay her bills while she was hospitalized.  David’s assistance provided the client with invaluable peace of mind while she dealt with her health.

David, thank you for sharing your “know how” with PELP, for your compassion towards our clients, and for showing that attorneys are not the only ones who can make a difference and an impact on the lives of those needing pro bono legal services.
